Ad Elements Portfolio

Advertising, to me, is more than just commercials or billboards; it is an emotional experience. In the series premiere of the iconic AMC television series Mad Men, Donald Draper states:

"Advertising is based on one thing, happiness. And you know what happiness is? Happiness is the smell of a new car. It's freedom from fear. It's a billboard on the side of the road that screams reassurance that whatever you are doing is okay. You are okay."

Although the quote is from a ficitonal show, it definitely rings true in the real world. The reason that advertising has always been a success is because it connects the viewer to a product. The consumer builds a special trust with a brand as a result of seeing themselves in the advertisement, connecting to the audience on a personal level. At the base of it all, advertising is a conversation between a company and customer, and for it to be successful, all that needs to happen is that special connection.
